Established in 1981, Quivira Winery, a family-owned legacy in Dry Creek Valley, is a pioneer in organic and biodynamic farming for over 40 years. Specializing in Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc, and Rhone varieties from CCOF vineyards, the winery is renowned for hallmark acidity and balance. The name Quivira, inspired by a Native American legend, reflects a mythical, magical place for founders Henry and Holly Wendt.
Situated at the base of Dry Creek Valley, 10 minutes from Healdsburg, Quivira's microclimate, influenced by the Russian River Valley, requires wind machines for frost protection. Discovered in 2005 by Pete and Terri Kight during environmental work, they became stewards, achieving success in restoring fish spawning in Wine Creek. Winemaker Hugh Chappelle, since 2010, elevated Quivira's wines to world-class standards, employing Acacia wood barrels for Sauvignon Blanc. Known for balanced Zinfandel, achieved through phased harvesting, Quivira invites visitors to savor wines under olive trees, explore biodynamic gardens, and learn about organic farming in this truly magical setting.
